A complete spaceframe
awaiting suspension arms
A spare engine (John
Macdonald's Brabham BT40 Grand Prix winning engine) sits in
the Daren to allow for measurements to be taken
Aluminum sheeting in place
and ready to be riveted on.
Additional rigidity obtained
with a rollover hoop mounted to the spaceframe.
The very heavy de Dion tube
now in place. The exhaust headers were the original ones on
the car but have to be replaced to make way for a lower
sitting engine
Suspension arm jigs
A modified crank shows new
water pump, now making it much easier to replace if ever the
need arises
Telltale signs of an alternative engine mount on the floor
of the spaceframe.
Mark Williams positions the
hanger for the Hewland Mk5 gearbox.

original Mk5 gearbox mated to a mule for positioning

The original shocks were
shot, coil springs rusted beyond salvation.
Post sandblasting to see what
could be salvaged
The
cylinder head needed some cleaning as well as replacement
for all parts within but the casting itself was in superb
condition after all those years of inactivity.
Neville McKay works on the
original engine block, preparing new taps. The block has
been cleaned and all surface rust removed.
